whew!  phil’s currently doing a rotation in internal medicine.  we just had a super long week where phil had to work 7 days in a row where he was at the hospital 10-15 hours per day.  that meant a lot of days where mikey didn’t get to see his daddy at all.  perhaps the hardest part is that when phil’s gone, it’s virtually impossible to get a hold of him.  rarely does he get to call home during the day, even if i page him!  and any time phil wasn’t working, he was supposed to be studying, so the bit of family time we did squeeze in was laced with the guilty knowledge that he really should have been studying and his not studying could very well lead to his not being able to go into the medical field he really wants to go in to.  as phil told me after a residency informational meeting, matching with a good program has everything to do with how well you do in med school and your test scores.

to add to the fun, i also hosted a small group meeting here last thursday night and threw a diaper shower/bbq here on saturday.  phil wasn’t able to be home for either night which meant i got to do all the cleaning/prep/hosting on top of caring for mikey.  which was why i was dead tired by saturday night.  

phil got one day off for the weekend (yesterday) and now he’s back at it today.  suffice it to say that we’ve both been feeling stressed, frustrated, and tired.  he’s got two big tests at the end of this week, so my single mom life continues.

but on friday night, we’ll be flying out to california!!!  can’t WAIT to see everyone, but most of all, to finally get some good family time in!  yesterday, we went to church with light snow falling (yes, we still seem to get snow in MAY here) and i was saying how we’ll be going to church next week in shorts and flip-flops.  hbc, here we come!
