old blog

as we sat down to dinner tonight, the first drops of rain began to fall.  we continued eating, watching the sky get darker and darker and the raindrops get bigger and bigger.  then the lightning flashed and the thunder rumbled.  a few minutes more and marble-sized hail was falling!  we still continued eating.  hey, it’s been four years that we’ve been here.  year one, we would have been panicking and wondering where to go for cover.  dinner was almost done when we heard loud sirens going off outside.  hmm.  phil suggested turning on the tv to see if there were any alerts.

tv weatherman:  if you live in the roseville area and have a basement, i strongly suggest you seek shelter down there as this storm system is developing a wall cloud and swirling.  (toto, we’re not in kansas anymore…)

mikey and i headed to our basement and phil joined us after putting the dishes in the dishwasher.  (yeah, the four years here thing).

thankfully, no tornados came through this time and it even stopped raining long enough for us to go out for our evening walk.  it started up again just as we were putting mikey down for the night.

all the while, i was reminded of God’s abundant goodness to provide for us in our corner of the world.  a homey dinner that was enjoyed together as a family, a basement to seek shelter in, being spared from a tornado touching down, still getting out for our evening walk, and oh yeah, the clouds!

i love clouds.  they were so colorful tonight.
