deep freeze
brrrr. brrrr. brrrr. after an unseasonably warm january– warmest one in 100 years (for reference, temps were in the mid 30s, super warm for minnesota!)– we woke up this morning to a frigid 10 below zero. with wind chill, it was negative 35 degrees! super super cold. they said the ‘high’ for today would be negative 5.
definitely a day that mikey and i are staying IN. how thankful i am that i get to stay home and not have to go out in that cold to get to work in the mornings. winters used to be way harder to deal with when i had to go to work before mikey was born. now, it’s not so bad since we can get out on the warmer, nicer days, and then stay in on the blisteringly cold or snowy days. poor phil though, he still has to get to the hospital while it’s still dark outside.
and how thankful i am that we have a garage to keep our cars in to avoid having sheets of ice form on the windshields that you’d have to stand out there and scrape off. and have to wait a good ten minutes to let the engine warm up enough to function properly.
and how thankful i am that we have a washer and dryer here in the house so that i don’t have to go out in the cold lugging laundry, detergent, keys, and coins to get our clothes clean.
so much to be thankful to the Lord for!
and tonight’s the big night– we’re going to switch mikey to his toddler bed tonight and are really really hoping it goes well!

ooo…that’s cold!! i once visited chicago one weekend when it was 10 below. the girl we stayed with didn’t have a garage. i can see how thankful one would be to have a garage. stay warm! and good luck to mikey!
