an apple a day…

since phil had the day off, we decided to go to an apple orchard with our good friends this past sunday after church.  the afton apple orchard also just happened to be having a little festival when we went, so there were fun extra activities going on like hayrides, face painting, and a petting zoo.  was a great day to be outside!

happily, the trees were low enough that even mikey and jenna could pick apples!

immediately after picking each apple, mikey’d take a bite out it!

made it kinda hard to fill up our bag…  phil said the cost of the bag of apples we actually bought probably covers the apples that ended up on the ground with little mikey-sized bites taken out of them.  hope so!

and how come the shortest adult was here trying to lift him up to pick this apple?!

in the midst of all the apple picking, mikey excused himself to find a private spot for a poopie break.

allie and i got a picture together while we waited for him.

there was also a pumpkin patch there!

i tried to get mikey to pick up a pumpkin, but he deemed each one to be too heavy.

“it’s TOO BIG, mom!”

how ’bout lifting with your knees instead?

finally, we found one he could hold up!

of course, mikey wanted to see what would happen if he dropped it.  it just made a thud.  not too exciting.

“has difficulty following directions.”

allie’s gotten quite used to catching a nap whenever and wherever she can.  poor girl…

meanwhile, mikey and jenna moved on to the petting zoo.

and the kiddos wrapped the day up at the playground.
