golden weekend of sorts

phil finally got a weekend off!  kind of.  he got this past thursday and friday off, which we considered to be his weekend.  it’s been a long time coming- he hasn’t had a full weekend off since the end of january!

it was great to be all together.  thursday evening, we went out to have dinner at a & w drive-in.  hey, it works with small kids!

mikey took his time perusing the menu choices.

we spent friday just lounging around the house.  it was beautiful out, so phil grilled brats and hot dogs for our dinner.  meanwhile, mikey, allie, and i kicked back on the lawn where the kids polished off a container of blueberries.  they’ve been really yummy lately!

phil did have to work an evening shift on saturday, but then had sunday off.  he had to work until midnight so it was an extra nice surprise to come downstairs on mother’s day to find this:

i wonder where he managed to find flowers at 1 am?!

sunday afternoon, we took the kids to the children’s museum to see the new curious george exhibit.  mikey’s really been into his buddy ‘georgie’ lately.

there were lots of other fun things for mikey to do…

like giving a check-up to his patient,

painting a masterpiece,

or making a music video!

meanwhile, allie was a happy girl just to be near daddy.

here she is plotting her escape.  allie kept wanting to get down and get in on all the fun, but her choices were limited since she’s not a walker yet.  she has been doing some few-second standing-on-her-own stints, though!

it was a full and fun day and look who we ran into on our way out!

mikey was so excited to meet george that he had to run back and give him a hug all by himself.
