picture time!
i found the cable and can finally post some pictures! not to mention that we’re now down to about ten boxes left to unpack. not bad considering we started with somewhere around a hundred boxes.
so i’m going to back up a little bit and post pics from our last few days in minnesota. after that will be a few pics from phil’s road trip.
our dear friends, the shafers, rescued us from our packing woes and took us out to dinner at stella’s fish cafe. they even arranged to have drew’s very kind parents babysit all the kids so that we could have a real night out! the food was dee-licious and the company was even better!
after dinner, i dropped the kids and phil off at home then raced over to the airport to pick up my dad. he came over to stay with us a few days and help out while we finished packing and then flew back with me and the kids. i totally could not have done it without him and am so grateful that he came over! our very last night in minnesota was absolutely perfect so we all went out for a final walk in roseville’s central park. i was glad we managed to go to my favorite park one last time.
my dad pretty much held little allie for the entire five days he was with us. the only time he gave her back was when it was naptime or when she needed a new diaper.
pensive mikey.
my dad- loving being a grandpa.
mikey and his buddies (jenna and will) saying their final goodbyes at the airport.
mikey was quite the little trooper for the entire day of traveling. he even rolled his little backpack everywhere we went and was pleased to be just like all the other travelers rolling their bags. and there’s will standing by all the rest of our luggage and gear. traveling with small kids– not for the faint of heart.
and here are a few pictures from phil’s road trip. most of them were taken from the car as he was driving. he didn’t get much time to stop and sight-see since he wanted to get to california as quick as he could. he made the whole trip in two and a half days!
good-bye minnesota, thanks for all the great memories!
approaching colorado (i think). there’s still snow on the mountain tops!
entering the desert in nevada. quite a different landscape from colorado.
it was crazy hot. phil says the car started overheating so he had to turn off the a/c, roll down all the windows and blast the heat until he got to las vegas. poor guy!
phil finally made it to vegas and took one picture. here’s the stratosphere.
after getting the car checked out, phil hit the road again for the last leg of his trip. he took only one more picture from the road:
next up, pictures from the cabrillo marine aquarium and from the beach!

allie looks so cute in her pictures with grandpa. and mikey looks so cute with his very own rolling bag. don’t worry about bringing anything tomorrow. i’ve got it all covered and i’m looking forward to it! i’m very curious to see how kate, mikey, and allie will play together. it’ll be fun!

love the pictures of your dad with the kiddos, today we went to Santa Barbara and remembered how he took us fishing that one time. glad you had another adult to travel with, that would have been a crazy thing to do it by yourself.
