the great backpack expedition of 2007
so i’ve been looking high and low for a backpack for mikey the last few weeks. he’s been needing one for sunday school and during our weekly moms group meetings to hold his drink, snack, change of clothes (for just in case reasons), and a couple cars. the reason it’s taken so long to find one is that phil wanted to get him a really really small one. and those are really really hard to find! after looking both in stores and online, i finally ordered him a mini backpack from rei. sadly, even mini backpacks are still huge on mikey. it’s a bit bigger than phil wanted, but i figured it’s a good size for preschool next year too.
in addition to mikey’s new backpack, it became apparent that phil needed one too. he’s been carrying around a canvas tote bag that he got free from one of the pharmaceutical companies. he was okay with it until one of his fellow residents called after him, “hey, don’t forget your purse, phil!” poor guy. actually, he was still okay with it. i wasn’t. 
and finally, since everyone else was getting a new backpack, i decided that my allie was going to get one too. it’s my being the second child thing. she can thank me later.
so saturday morning, we all piled into the car and headed off to hunt down a perfect pack for each person. it took a little running around to get it done, but i’m satisfied with the results. especially since the kids loved their backpacks and kept wanting to wear them around the house!

awwwwwww!!!!!! i love allie’s bangs!!! makes me want to cut jessica’s bangs. =) they are both too cute and definitely growing up way too fast. i’m going to have to get some pointers from you on how to handle two kids. ; )

Who knew backpack shopping could be an adventure?…only you Tsais! You shouldn’t go so long on postings ’cause your kids are growing up even faster! Love the backpacks, but where’s the picture of Phil sportin’ his? LOVE Mikey’s new haircut. Bangs are definitely the ‘in’ look for girls and Allie looks so grown up & cute with them. Is her hair getting lighter?

we have like ten of those free totes. I have like one for every occasion I have to be careful though because i might be carrying spare clothes or art supplies in a viagra bag or something.

Love the pony tail too, and yeah she needed one too. what cute kids ( i can’t say that enough) Ian has a “Little Einstein Rocket” backpack. that is huge for him too. but nice for church or going on outings. great picks for backpacks.

it took us a couple trips to find jonathan’s backpack too! oh my, look at how big allie has gotten! a full-on pony tail too!
