weekend ski trip
this is a bit out of order, but i still wanted to post pics anyway…
we were able to go with my brother’s family to big bear for a weekend ski trip. actually, only johnny and phil ended up hitting the slopes, but we had a great time together just hanging out, watching movies, talking, eating deeelicious food (is it just me or is food eaten over the weekend in a cabin especially yummy?), playing games (after the kids went to bed- yahoo!), and enjoying the snow. the time went by far too quickly.
we didn’t go skiing, but phil found a place nearby for us to go tubing. here are the kids all bundled up to go outside. one thing about visiting snow versus living in snow– it’s kinda fun to bundle ’em all up and take pictures. not so fun to have to do it every day just to go outside for a few minutes!
all ready to go tubing! (thanks joanna for taking these pictures for us!)
here mikey and i come sliding down the hill!
i’ve discovered that tubing is much more fun without kids. you don’t have to worry about them getting hurt and trying to balance them so that they don’t tumble out of the inner tube. the kids only wanted to go a couple of times before they’d had enough and we decided it was time to head back for lunch. but thankfully, johnny and joanna were able to use our tickets later in the afternoon to go tubing while we watched jeremiah.
we did get in a few more pictures before leaving!
we all had a great time just hanging out together in the cabin. allie loooooved being around her baby cousin (whom she nicknamed “miah”) and wanted to know where he was at all times. she especially loved to give him big hugs!
except poor jeremiah wasn’t quite sure about all this lovin’! funnily enough, jeremiah seemed to sense that mikey was the safer kid to be around and was quite fascinated with watching him run around. mikey’s always had a certain gentleness about him whereas allie tends to be, let’s say, more exuberant in her shows of affection.
a snowstorm passed through on saturday night so we woke up on sunday to a good layer of fresh, powdery snow everywhere. johnny and phil couldn’t resist the new snow and went boarding in the morning (conditions were pretty icy the previous day). and we also got in some nice snow pictures.
such a happy, smiley little guy!
yes, definitely good times. might just have to make this a yearly tradition!

what a great time you guys had….i wonder why i didn’t catch this post before. I missed one of Lorie’s too. I agree about food tasting so much better in a cabin, even the mundane regular food is really good. Lorie might get jealous of your ability to just visit the snow instead of living in it day in and day out.
by the way, was that Big bear?
