my foray into the world of soccer moms
so now that i’m feeling more like my old self, i’ve been on the lookout for some type of exercise class for mikey to burn off some of his boundless energy. the idea of mikey getting to run around while someone else kept up with him– very appealing. a couple friends suggested a program called “soccer for tots”, a 45-minute weekly class that introduces the basics of soccer to 3-5 year olds. perfect! except that i signed up a bit late and it didn’t look like we’d get a spot until the summer. but then i got a call last week saying they had a cancellation and mikey was first on the waiting list. yahoo! so last thursday was mikey’s very first soccer class.
all dressed in his very own soccer uniform- complete with tiny little shin guards! (we went after class and bought some tiny cleats for him, too).
mikey quickly mastered the “soccer statue”.
coach clive was great! all the kids were included with lots of encouragement. mikey was having a blast and felt comfortable right away. how could i tell? he jumped right in and tried his best to follow directions. and here he is telling the coach one of his many slightly off-topic stories…
looks like we’re going to have to work on the “no-hands” rule…
soccer tots today, soccer stars tomorrow?
meanwhile, allie kept herself pretty entertained…
and her very own water bottle!
and what soccer for tots program would be complete without story time?
i think he had a good time, don’t you? (interesting sidenote– the girl on the right is two months YOUNGER than mikey!)

what great shots michelle….i can’t believe that you are the soccer mom already, wasn’t it yesterday we were standing by the girl’s PE class peeling paint off of that brick wall?!? Who are these kids and why do they keep calling us mommy. (just kidding)
