mikey’s turn!
after waiting patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) through each of our birthdays, mikey’s turn finally came! we planned a party for him on saturday, so his actual birthday was somewhat low-key, but still full of happy surprises.
phil wanted to give him a present from us first thing in the morning. so we tiptoed into his room to find him still asleep.
but he popped right up at the mention of a present to open. i love his still-sleepy eyes here.
mikey’s response when i asked him how old he was:
later in the afternoon, we found a surprise package waiting outside the front door.
two happy kids and a big, wrapped box to open. does it get any better?!
a BIG thank you to my dear friend lorie for making both my kids’ day! mikey LOVES the speed racer car and flying helicopter and allie was a happy girl tearing into her pink whoppers.
and in the evening, after his requested dinner of spaghetti, mommy surprised him with a birthday cupcake. since it was finally his turn, mikey wanted to make the moment last and had us sing the happy birthday song to him no less than six times (complete with relighting the candle each time). we were happy to oblige.
happy fourth birthday to my precious little guy. it has been such a joy to watch you grow into the happy, gentle-hearted, imaginative four-year-old boy you are today. we thank the Lord for you and may He richly bless you in the coming year!

aw! happy birthday mikey!!! megan is the same way. we’ve been going to a lot of birthday parties recently. after each one she asks, “is my party next?” what a big boy mikey is now! 🙂

Awww…these pics make us miss that little guy. I LOVE his big smiles. Although, you’re right, he’s definitely growing up way to fast! I’m glad he liked the package on his b-day…and I have to agree…the still-sleepy eyes are priceless.
