movin’ on up
time for an update! it’s been a pretty quiet month around here for us. with gas prices now above $4.50 a gallon, phil working 72+ hours per week (and being on call about 3 nights a week), and my beginning to have some contractions the last couple weeks (they’ve been occuring more on the nights phil is away. i think it’s more because i’m stressing myself out thinking how to get someone to come watch the kids in the middle of the night and get myself to the hospital in case i go in to labor when phil isn’t home), we’ve mostly been laying low and hanging out at the house. which has been really nice and relaxing. surprising how entertaining just playing in the garage and driveway can be. i loooooove our new home. love it!
my due date is now three and a half weeks away and i’m guessing i’ll go early with this one too. yikes! thankfully, we were able to borrow most of the things we needed (since i got rid of all our newborn stuff last year in minnesota) from our friends. so far, all i’ve had to buy is a baby bathtub! and a new diaper bag too. heh heh. one new diaper bag per baby, is that so much to ask?!
anyway, since the new baby will be needing the crib, it was time to move allie out of it. i’ve been dragging my feet on that one since she’s always slept so well in it and i wasn’t looking forward to moving her into a bed that she could get out of at will.
we found this cute little bunk bed that’s only four feet tall for the kids and last week, took the plunge and moved the kids into it. mikey had been sleeping in his toddler car bed in the same room where allie slept in the crib. so now both kids moved next door into the bunk bed room. we let them pick out their own bedding and both were sooooo excited to sleep in their new beds! allie, of course, wanted pink sheets (i steered her towards the hello kitty set since i’m not too keen on the whole princess stuff). mikey was the big surprise and chose the spiderman bedding over all the others, including lightning mqueen! i wasn’t sure he’d really like it since he’s not too fond of spiders. but it turns out he loves his blue spider bed and knew what he wanted after all. allie looooves what she calls her “pink bed” and hasn’t missed her crib even for a moment. so thankful i am that she’s always been great about sleeping anywhere. so both kids made the transition without a hitch, both still stay in their rooms until i go get them (i still have them sleep in separate rooms for daytime naps), and now we’re one step closer to being ready for baby #3!
strangely though, i felt a little pang of sadness the first night we put the kids in their new room and i walked by their empty old room. just thinking how they’re growing up so fast and how mikey is done with his toddler bed and allie is done with her crib.
anyway, here are the kids the first night in their new beds!
mikey loves being in the top bunk and quickly mastered climbing up into it.
allie, my big girl, so pleased with her new pink bed.

Michelle! I didn’t know you were pregnant again. (I haven’t been on xanga for awhile.) Congratulations! Your kids are so cute!

That bed is really cool. I think it looks like a good idea for the Fermin boys when they get a little older! Another good idea from the Tsais. I am glad you are able to sit and breathe a little and Phil can be home for those 8 hours a week… ha ha ha… I am excited for you that the time is near and if you are delivering at Phil’s hospital then just bring the kids to the call room!

oh my gosh, you can call me and eugene in the middle of the night if you go into labor…that would be so exciting! haha!

Great idea, since Allie’s is on the floor, she won’t get hurt if she falls out of bed! PS Happy Anniversary
