babies on the brain
from my clinic visit today, it turns out that i am 2 cm dilated, 50-60% effaced, and baby’s head is engaged. so it looks like baby #3 will make an early appearance. though i was this far along with allie and managed two more weeks before she was born. phil is hoping against hope that the baby will be born this saturday to get him out of a test he’s not feeling ready for. i told him i’d do my best! 
all this talk about the new baby definitely hasn’t escaped mikey’s attention. thankfully, he seems mostly excited about the baby, knows it’s a girl, knows what we’re planning to name her, and asks if she’s coming out soon. he loves giving the baby kisses and hugs, too. i don’t think allie is quite as aware but still enjoys giving my tummy bear hugs.
and my big ol’ belly hasn’t escaped mikey’s attention, either. a couple nights ago, phil asked him what was in mommy’s tummy. after a thoughtful pause, mikey answered, “baby… and fooooood!” gee, thanks son. 
phil then asked, “what’s more in there?” mikey answered, “FOOOOOD!!” that cracked all of us up.
and lately, mikey’s taken to holding my face in his little hands and declaring parts he loves. like “i love your eyes” and “i love your nose”. after each statement, i repeat it back to him. it’s become our little game. one time, after naming eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, and hair, mikey lovingly gazed into my eyes and said in his most sincere voice, “and i love your circle face”. i had to laugh at that since i know he meant it to be a high compliment. funny boy. so now the little game always ends with a declaration over my “circle face”.
leave it to my little guy to keep the mood light while keeping me humble!
thank you friends, for your kind emails and messages. if you could, please pray the baby would come at a time when phil is already home and finding someone to watch the kids would be easy and quick. will keep you posted!

We love your “circle face” too and miss seeing it over this past year. I am praying for Phil’s presence in the next two weeks. Dave will be on call in September and I know how it makes you nervous thinking about the logistics. Yeah for baby girl Tsai–can’t wait for her to be here for you!

(Remind me of when P asked me to cross my legs and hold it for a few more days so that Matthew could be a spring baby. Of course…that didn’t happen…Matthew missed it by a day. HAH!)
