the difference between cats and dogs

we recently got a cell phone with texting for me (phil’s already got one) as a means of staying a little more connected throughout the day.  phil’s crazy busy work schedule often doesn’t allow him enough time to call home.  the worst is when he’s on call and doesn’t get a chance to check in with me for the entire day.  so it’s usually us on a wednesday night saying to each other at bedtime, “k, see you friday!”    and since he’s usually on call two to three times a week, it’s easy to start feeling disconnected from each other.

so today, we were able to text one another here and there throughout the day.  i have to say it was definitely fun!  and it really made the day go by even faster which is an added bonus since he’s on call once again.

but, it’d be an understatement to say that he and i are a bit different in terms of how we communicate.  as evidenced by one of our text exchanges today:

phil tsai:  so do u like texting?
me:  i do – helps me feel more connected
2 u during the day.  except for long
        lags between responses.  overall, it’s
kinda like chat.  do u like texting?
phil tsai:  yeah its cool.

verbose he is not.

Funny – we’re into texting over here now too!  We have some friends who got us started on it.  Yesterday I bet I sent 6 texts back & forth to my friend who’s daughter has been in the hospital all week.  Don’t feel bad, though, I feel like I write too much compared other “texters” too.  Guess that’s why we’re bloggers & e-mailers…we just have more to say.

it must be a girly thing. I’ll send very wordy e-mails and all i get is “okay babe. I love you”  so sorry for his crazy schedule, poor baby Lauren won’t even know him.
