thanksgiving soup

this past monday was the “thanksgiving feast” at mikey’s preschool.  my dad made the long drive down just to be there for mikey.  my dad rocks.  it was so nice to be there at this little celebration together.

the kids sang, “we eat turkey” and “we eat pumpkin pie” (to the tune of “where is thumbkin”) and said their verse for this month, “1 thessalonians 5:18, in everything give thanks, thanks, thanks.”  (ps- notice how the boys around mikey chose names with “strong”, “brave”, and “fast”.  my boy chose “twinkle star”.  )

afterwards, the kids joined their families in order to eat the stone soup they made earlier in class.  mikey contributed celery.  my dad and i both agreed that it was delicious!

ok, so it worried me a little in the beginning of the school year when it became apparent that mikey seemed to be making quite a few little girl friends.  but recently, he’s been mentioning some boys that he’s been playing with, so my worries subsided.  and my worries were completely laid to rest this morning when i discovered a little something:  these cute little girlies seek mikey out!  one girl came over to our table to say hi to mikey and ask if he wanted to play.  sorry for the blurry pic, but my boy had to run fast!  hee hee.

just as a whole group of both girls and boys were beginning to play ring-around-the-rosie, i had to tell mikey that we had to go.  he was sad since he wanted to stay and play, but there was a list of errands i needed to get to.  i left feeling happy and thankful that mikey’s really enjoyed his preschool experience so far and has apparently not had much trouble making friends.

and i think grandpa and girls had a good time, too!

happy thanksgiving, everyone!
