low-key family fun
after a jam-packed saturday filled with three different Christmas parties, it was nice to just hang out at home and enjoy some family time last night. we busted out the costco gingerbread house, much to the kids’ delight.
we decided to toss the instructions on how to design the house and just let the kids decorate it any which way they wanted. i think they had more fun that way.
nobody seemed to heed my strict instructions not to eat the candy until after the house was decorated.
this little one was the worst offender.
and the big one was certainly no help!
well, at least some of the candy ended up on the house.
we let mikey decorate the tree all by himself.
allie lost interest in the project after a while, but mikey stayed dedicated to the end. so cute how intent he was on placing each candy just so.
the finished masterpiece. it certainly won’t be winning any awards, but it sure is quite special to the two little people in our house!

I’m really impressed! That house looks great. What a fun idea, I’m sure Katelyn would love to decorate a house. She sure does like decorating cookies! And Allie is too cute for words!

gosh, that looks like so much fun. i love the picture of allie sucking on her fingers from the candy, and the one of her admiring the house. candid shots are my favorite.
