totes for tots

after taking last session off to adjust to life with three kiddos, i was able to rejoin the moms’ group at church for this spring session.  it’s been so nice to be back!  last week, we had a craft activity– making and applying appliques to a tote bag.  i decided to make one for mikey since i was already making a special surprise at home for allie’s upcoming birthday party.

here’s what i made:

i realized though, that i had better make one for allie too, or else she’d be really sad.  so, i made another one at home!

the totes are perfect for the kids to take to the library.  and that’s exactly what we did with the bags the next day!

first, we had to return a few books…

then, we headed to the kids’ section so mikey and allie could pick out a few books.

contemplating her selection…

mikey was excited to find the sequel to his current favorite, “chicka, chicka, boom, boom”.

mikey thought this enormous bear was great and wanted a picture with him.

Those bags are really cute!  Would you mind sharing how you made those?  Are those iron-on swatches?  Did you cut the shapes out, or is there a place that sells pieces of fabric already cut out?  I’m sorry for all the questions, but it’s because I’m not crafty, but I so wish I was!

those bags are adorable!  i can picture people asking you where you bought them.  very stylish!  =)  i love that you took pictures of taking mikey and allie to the library.  great pictures for them to look at when they are older.
