mikey had the awesome opportunity to take part in our church’s 7-weekbasketball league this summer. the program was called T3 (triumphthrough teamwork) and the coaches taught K-3rd graders fundamentalbball skills as well as talked to them about the gospel each week.i wasn’t sure how mikey would like playing basketball but figured we’d give it a try. though his skills could definitely use some improvement, overall, mikey had a blast!
taking a practice shot. hmm, not sure which hoop he was aiming for.
team huddle. mikey and his teammates voted to name themselves “thefrench fries”. that’s their coach david sitting with them. two of hiskids came to be his assistant coaches- his son was named michael, andhis daughter was named allie. crazy, huh?
one of the few instances when my boy was actually paying attention tothe game. most of the other times he’d be out there chewing on hisshirt, fidgeting around, spinning around, pretending to be a frog, etc.and me? i was totally cool with that. yeah right.
sorry for the blurry pic, but here’s about the only time mikey went forthe ball. i think our general house rule of sharing and not grabbingaway toys has been drilled a little too well in to him.
i think mikey actually had the most fun on the bench rather than in thegame. here he is asking this little girl if her shoes have lights inthem.
little girl, “hmm, let me see if there’s lights.”
mikey, “mine have lights” [pounds foot down on ground], “see?”
listening to the gospel story.
‘uncle jeff’ presenting the two ways to live.
team huddle before the last game of the season.
“hi, i’m mikey, what’s your name?”
my carefree, some would say oblivious, boy.
practicing his dance moves. oblivious to the action around him.
when suddenly the ball is shoved into his hands! this is just before akid on the other team came up and took it back out of his hands. mikeywillingly gave it up.
lining up for the “good game” walk-by. they got pretty good at this by the last game.

wow, they can actually throw the ball that high? that’s pretty good. i like the description of everything mikey does on the basketball court besides play basketball, hehe.

Ahhhh…Mikey…he’s too adorable. Hey may not be the next Yao Ming (yet), but he looked like he enjoyed himself. And that’s the more important part
