pumpkin carving
forgot to add these before… pumpkin carving with the kiddos last month.
mikey was fascinated with the pumpkin guts. but he wouldn’t touch it for anything. he declared it be too stinky.
phil thought it was pretty stinky too. but i love him for still being willing to do it (on his post-call day) because i wanted the family memories.
and this was the closest the girl would get to the whole operation.
mikey requested this for his pumpkin. and it became phil’s job to make it happen.
this was allie’s choice. and was my job.
i finished first. thankfully mine was easier to do.
lesson learned: don’t carve pumpkins 10 days before halloween. and then don’t put the pumpkins in the freezer in hopes of preserving them til halloween. it doesn’t work.

Wow! The pumpkins turned out great! And, I also learned that you shouldn’t carve pumpkins 10 days before halloween. By the time it was halloween my pumpkin’s face had caved in!

they turned out fantastic! i’ve never carved a pumpkin before, so thanks for the lesson your learned.

I never knew that’s how you carve pumpkins. No wonder mine always looked sort of weird… and they weren’t even fancy like yours. Just your typical eyes, nose, and mouth… and even then it looked all butchered up.

@hongfamilia – hey thanks! it did take an abnormally long time to do– so much so that both kids were out in the living room playing while we were still working away at the pumpkins in the kitchen. so afterward, phil decided that maybe we wouldn’t do it again until the kids are actually old enough to do most of it themselves!
