something about specially folded hotel towels just screams “VACATION” to me.
we woke up the next morning around 7am (still used to the kids’ wakingtime) and decided to take a walk on the pier before breakfast. cameacross this sign and thought it was funny.
it was pretty foggy on the pier and it was just us and the guys going fishing when we started our walk.
phil thought it was rather unsettling to be so close to the edge with no railing.
sitting under the rainbow.
the fog was clearing as we made our way back to land.
the hubs.
a shot of our hotel.
after breakfast (at pierre lafond), we decided to do a walking tour of the santa barbara mission.
it was a beautiful day.
in front of the church entrance.
phil was a (mostly) patient subject while i fiddled around with my camera settings and learned a lot while i was at it!
thisone cracks me up every time i see it. there are two more shots of funnyphil faces in this ‘lil bro foto’ collection and it was hard pickingjust one to share!
becoming a less patient subject…
so i resorted to shooting him while he wasn’t looking.
another one that cracks me up.
looking through the church to the garden beyond.
loved the reflection in the water.
themission was beautiful and i could have stayed there all day. but, itwas time to head out for lunch (at the country cajun kitchen).
later that afternoon, we strolled through a farmer’s market a coupleblocks away from our hotel. did a color walk of sorts- starting withred…
orange…
orange and yellow…
yellow…
green…
blue and fuchsia…
and pink!
the next morning, we picked up a quick breakfast at a nearby coffee shop and took it to go… on a bike cart ride.
coming through! ding! ding! ding!
every once in a while, phil would glance over at me and ask if i waspedaling. YES i was pedaling! but i couldn’t help it that my feetdidn’t quite reach the pedals!
ok, so it was more tiring than relaxing (depending on who you ask), butit was still fun nonetheless. thanks for the laughs, bike cart!
passed by this little lighthouse on the way back to the hotel.
i forgot to take a pic of the car before, but here was our ride for ourvacation. my dad lent us his prius while we left them our minivan touse while the kids were with them.
after our pea soup lunch, we drove over to solvang to browse the shopsthere. (browsing shops is one of phil’s favorite things to do.)
phil was fascinated with these little pill boxes he kept seeing in all the stores.
ev’rywhere you go…
we found the perfect gift in this clock shop to take back to my parentsas a thank-you for watching our kiddos. it was hanging in that emptyspot right above phil’s left shoulder. he was busy checking out yetanother pill box here. (he did end up buying a pill box before we leftsolvang. still not sure why he was so fascinated with them though.)
the trip was GREAT and went by oh-so-quickly. but we were also looking forward to seeing the kiddos again (really, we were!), and had a couple more days to spend with them at grandpa’s place. pics to come…

Santa barbara is great, isn’t it? I went during mid july when it was so~ hot around my neighborhood, but over there it was cool and breezy. I wouldn’t mind moving there one day~ ^^ Anyways, glad your family had fun!
