last hurrah
phil had to spend a large part of his second week of vacation catching up on work stuff– papers, schedules, cases, boo. but! we did get one last hurrah in on thursday when our friends babysat the kiddos for a whole day while phil and i went off to have a day o’ fun at disneyland.
whenever we take the kids to d-land, we always end up saying how it’s kind of a waste to pay for annual passes but never get to ride any of the bigger rides. we usually go from the train, to jungle safari, to it’s a small world, to the winnie-the-pooh ride, to the carousels, to autopia. mikey has decided most of the other rides are too scary and both kids are NOT fans of anything in 3D. and there’s only a handful of rides over at ca adventures that the kids like as well. so our choices are somewhat limited and we always say how we should go by ourselves sometime to ride all the other stuff, but we never get around to actually doing it.
so we took advantage of this date day to do just that. and it was so FUN! all this just-us time has been working wonders on our marriage and i’m so thankful for that. it’s just nice to get a recharge every now and then.
ok, on to a few pics!
phil held the camera out so that we could get a picture together. not bad, i thought.
phil has wanted to check out this california soaring ride ever since we moved back two years ago and finally came his chance!
it wasn’t very crowded that day and the most we waited as maybe thirty minutes for a ride. most were only five to fifteen minute waits. we managed to get on everything we wanted to ride, some even twice. one of the highlights of the day– totally KILLING phil on this ride. YEAH BABY!!! (and we also discovered that the kids would probably really like this ride. we just never took them on because it’s 3D and we just assumed they wouldn’t like it).
here’s phil trying to make it look like he got the higher score.
but he did manage to top me in the buzz lightyear scoring. yeah, we tend to get pretty competitive no matter what the game is.
it was also fun to just walk around taking pictures in between all the rides, too.
we went for an early dinner at the blue bayou.
ordered these cups with color change straws and lighted clips to give to the kids afterward.
must return soon with the kids so they can enjoy disneyland at christmastime. allie would love this:

@pinkplaid610 – heh heh, they thought they got the better deal cuz they got to play with their friends for the WHOLE day! and later when we told mikey where we went, we also told him that we ‘had to’ go on all the scary rides and he was just glad he didn’t have to go with us. i know the day will come when he’ll change his mind about the rides, but for now, it worked beautifully!
