thanksgiving feast, preschool style
so on monday of thanksgiving week, mikey and allie had a special program called a ‘thanksgiving feast’ in each of their classes. thankfully, phil made sure he was post-call that day so that he could be there with us. otherwise, one of our kids wouldn’t have had a parent there to see them since i couldn’t be in two places at once. so he and lauren went to allie’s class while my brother, jeremiah, joy (they were visiting us for the day), and i went to mikey’s class.
phil found his seat by the placemat allie had made:
afterward, each of the classes had made stone soup (based on the book) for the feast part. each of the kids were assigned an ingredient to add to the soup. allie contributed beef and chicken broth. mikey contributed two jars of minced garlic for his class’ soup.
i was not a very good photographer that day and only managed a couple of pictures before putting the camera away (i didn’t even get a shot of mikey’s placemat- bad mommy!). but here he is with his class singing their special thanksgiving song. (i’m especially thankful this year because the group of boys in this class play together really well and mikey’s made some really good friends, which i’m SO happy about).
mikey and his teacher, miss tanya:
afterward, we headed over to a nearby park for some play time:
this was lauren’s first time down the slide and she loved it!
it’s been so fun seeing allie being such a great big sister to baby lauren. she really loves having a little sister and is always watching out for her and trying to take care of her. love that.
then uncle johnny brought out the golf clubs and the boys hurried on over:
getting a quick lesson from uncle johnny:
mikey would’ve stayed out here all day hitting balls if we let him!
he also thought the ball picker-upper was pretty cool too:
