Snow or Bust

Phil took the last week of March off for vacation in order to coincide with Allie’s Spring break.  Not with Lauren’s, but it’s preschool so it doesn’t count as much.  Or so I tell myself.  We decided we’d spend a few days up in Big Bear in hopes that we’d catch the tail end of the snow since Mikey had (per his norm) been asking when we’d get to go to the snow.  Snow or bust, we told him.

And this year, it was a bust.  In more ways than one.  But more on that later.

So we (I) packed up, loaded up, and headed up!

The first order of business as soon as we got there: movie time.  (Wreck It Ralph.) (Again.) (I wasn’t kidding when I said it’s their new favorite.)  Daddy couldn’t get the dvd player to work with the big TV on the wall, but they were just as happy with this arrangement.

Second order of business: game night.  Count on Daddy to always have a few surprise games/toys up his sleeve when it’s vacation time.  🙂

Third order of business: marshmallow roasting.

And perfecting the fine art of the S’more.  Before realizing (once again) that none of us really like S’mores that much so they stuffed themselves silly with “raw” marshmallows instead.

Fourth order of business: chucking the kids in bed so that we could snuggle down in front of the laptop with a wine “spritzer” (chard + Sprite) (classy) to finally get to watch a whole movie together (Argo).

Stay tuned for Big Bear day 2 coming soon!
