Arizona, Day 2
The next day, we caught the tail end of spring training- the Angels (the Tsais’ current favorite team) vs. the Oakland A’s (Phil’s favorite team when he was growing up) (because of their green uniforms) (maybe).
The Tsais are ready for some baseball! Though some of us have outgrown our Angels wear. Or Mommy couldn’t find everyone’s Angels wear in the madness of trying to pack six people up for a three day vacation that required swimming gear and baseball fanwear.
The kids even got a couple autographs!
Phil told us most of the star players had already left to start the season back home. That mattered little since we didn’t recognize anyone anyway. You know, being true fans and all.
Mikey was still in awe.
He declared this glove “officially retired” now that it had been autographed by two real live Angels players.
And when our pink-wearin’ pipsqueak little daughter boldly asked if he would autograph her notebook with a glittery blue cover? Well, he just won all our hearts when he gave her a smile and obliged.
She then set right to work embellishing her autographed page. Much to Phil’s chagrin.
This boy was only interested in the peanuts.
And his daddy.
The game had just barely gotten underway.
When this one decided she was kinda over this whole baseball thing.
“Is it time to gooooooo yet??”
Thankfully, we decided to stay a bit longer and it just so happened that a guy sitting next to us caught a foul ball and gave it to Mikey. First two autographs on his glove and now an official MLB ball? The boy’s life is now complete.
Thanks for the memories Angels, and we’ll be coming to see you for our once-annual game this summer!
Love,
Your Number 1 Fans
PS- this post was brought to you today by Phil’s gift to me: taking the kids out to a movie (Bears) while Jonah napped so that I could enjoy two whole blissful quiet hours by myself. It fit PERFECTLY. Happy Mother’s Day, friends. I hope it was more joy and blessing than sorrow for you all today.
