After we got back from Arizona, I had exactly one day to prepare for a joint birthday party for Allie and Jonah. Joint birthday party? I think my thinking was along the lines of bandaid removal- rip it off all at once and be done with it. Or something like that. Because March signals the beginning of birthday season in our house. And this is our party year. So two birds, one stone.
Happily, at the writing of this post, I am five down, one to go. Unhappily, my shoulders/neck have been hurting since birthday season began.
I may need to rethink this every other year party idea.
Anywho, here are the pictures from Allie’s Sew Fun and Jonah’s Bouncing, Bubbles, & Balloons parties!
The calm before the storm…
My sweet birthday girl. (My birthday boy had long since ditched me for the bounce house and so couldn’t be bothered with picture taking).
The party favors. Allie’s very first sewing project was the making of these bags!
Ready or not, it’s party time!
A big, BIG thank you to Uncle Ryan for taking most of the party pictures as I have found out yet again that I am simply not good at simultaneous party hosting and picture taking.
The girls jumped right into the sewing project (coin purses).
Lovely little J hard at work.
Unfortunately, Phil got delayed while picking up the food for lunch and so the boys kinda had to fend for themselves for a while. Thankfully, the snack table seemed to be keeping them busy for the time being.
Fine motor skills at its finest.
I probably should have thought this sewing project through some more because this project required quite a bit of the moms’ assistance. :/
My little ham and her many faces.
So, so thankful for the parents who took the boys out and started them off on bubbles while the girls were busy with their sewing project.
And THEN, hooray of hoorays, Phil made it home!
Bubble madness ensued.
And then the balloon guy arrived!
This would be my son PUNCHING the bubbles. Of course.
Meanwhile, the girls kept at their work. Very Laura Ingalls of them.
Until they realized the balloon guy could make princess (FROZEN) balloons and then they all abandoned ship leaving their moms to finish the work (SORRY MOMS!).
I’m FREE from endless sewing!!! 😉
Spiderman!
And yes, there was much bouncing to do.
We had two cakes, one for her, then one for him. But he didn’t know that so he went ahead and helped her blow out her candles. She didn’t mind at all. Which is one of many, many reasons why we love her. And him, too.
Boys and their daddies.
Taking mental notes for her party.
So did he enjoy his party? I’m guessing yes.
I think it’s safe to say they all did. Even Mikey who made it home (from his friend’s birthday sleepover) to get some bounce time in before the guys came to take it away.
Happy birthday to my March babies. You are each God’s precious gift entrusted to our family and I count it a privilege to be able to celebrate you! Love you, Allie. Love you, Jonah.
