Mikey and Allie had their piano recital in June the weekend after school let out.
A pesky little hand attempting to steal my program.
Allie played “Canoeing in the Moonlight”.
Mikey played “Auld Lang Syne”.
And for whatever reason, they were both more nervous this time around even though it was their third time being in the recital. So they both made some pretty big mistakes while playing. Like the kind where you mess up, lose track of where you are, stop playing while frantically trying to figure out where to start again while listening to the awkward silence of the audience. Ugh, not a good feeling and both kids were pretty disappointed with themselves.
Especially this one. Even her daddy’s feel better hug wasn’t helping much.
So he announced that we were all going to our town’s street fair. Right then. And, he said, we were gonna walk there. She’s had a hankering for quite a while to be able to walk to school (no idea why), so this announcement perked her right up. Both the going to the fair and the getting there on foot.
They perked up even more when he bought them each a little dried flower necklace.
Rubber band guns for them since the flower necklaces didn’t hold the same appeal for them.
Then rides.
And more rides.
And the giant slide.
And all was made well again for the Tsai clan.
Thank you Lord, for giving them such a great daddy.
