Thanks to dear friends who offered to babysit for us (thanks Jami and James- we love you guys!!), Phil and I were able to go out and celebrate our thirteenth anniversary this past July.
Here we are thirteen years ago. Crazy kids…
And here we are today! Er, I mean this past July. Which really feels like just yesterday. Doesn’t it? Please say yes. (Thanks James for taking this pic for us!) Anyway, we look exactly the same, right? RIGHT?! Please don’t answer that.
To celebrate 13 years, we went out and did what we do best: EAT. It really is what we do best. As will be evidenced by the next few several pictures. Ahem.
We started off with the cheddar bacon biscuits. Cheddar. Bacon. There really isn’t anything more that needs to be said beyond, These Were Awesome.
Next came meat slices and bread and some kind of fancy mustard spread. We ate it all. As good as it was, filling up on that bread ended up being a mistake, though.
Then came shrimp ceviche and pork cracklins. Hello .
Then came these green beans with about a hundred other things thrown in with them. Sadly, these were a travesty. We’re finding that anything labeled “Asian” by a non-Asian specific restaurant just tends to be overly soy sauced and super salty as a result. Phil was mightily disappointed in these. Mostly because I only ate a couple bites before quitting, but we didn’t want to send it back, so Phil powered them all down and lived to regret that decision.
I think these were some kind of seafood (maybe lobster? crab?) ravioli. Delicious.
Cheers, honey!
Seared scallops. See? The food just kept coming and coming and we just kept eating and eating. We were seated at a tiny little table for two with all these dishes crowded on top of it. What a sight. But what could we do when everything on the menu sounded awesome and we felt compelled to try it all? So we did what had to be done and bravely ate on.
Roasted Brussels sprouts with a little of everything else thrown in. These were definitely better than the green bean fiasco, but we were getting too full at this point to really appreciate them.
Steamed mussels in a green coconut curry sauce.
Tater tots with truffle oil and shaved Parmesan. Serious case of our eyes being bigger than our stomachs.
We finished off with a glassful of brownie bites in chocolate ice cream with a bing cherry on top. So. Much. Food.
So fun, though.
We went for a walk on the pier immediately following dinner. We had to in order to be able to breathe again.
And because there’s something seriously wrong with us (or because those green beans were seriously so salty that we were dying of thirst), we stopped in for some watermelon rosemary lemonade and this irresistibly cute strawberry lemonade mini cupcake. The only thing I can say in our defense is that at least it was mini.
Well, a thirteenth anniversary does warrant some celebrating, doesn’t it?
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😉
PS- Happy anniversary, Phil! I am so blessed to be walking this life with you and so humbled to see God’s faithfulness to us in our marriage these past thirteen years. Grateful for you and I hope for many more years to come. Love you.
