Lauren Turns 6!

Originally, I was thinking to throw a Frozen-themed birthday party for Lauren at home. But, reality set in. I was tired. Plus, we had only recently made it through the other five of our birthdays in recent weeks. Also, our backyard reno was finally in full swing and things looked terrible out there. Additionally, some work/painting was being done in the living room so hosting a party in the house was out, too. So I pitched the idea of having Lauren’s party at Color Me Mine. Turns out it was the easiest sell ever and she was ALL for it.

Thank you Lord, for this my easy-to-please girl.

Getting the final touches ready to pack up and take with us to the store. Phil thought these goodie boxes were rather sparse. He forgot about the ENORMOUS balloon that was the real party favor. These boxes were just meant to weigh the ENORMOUS balloon down. Hmph.

Thankfully we got there before any of the guests arrived (we have been known to be late to our own parties before). Just enough time for a quick picture and then set things up on the outside tables.

Ta-da!
Ta-da! (Her hand print looks so big on that plate. Definitely not my little baby anymore. Sniff, sniff.)

She was given the choice to decorate the plate herself, have her friends sign it, or have her mommy do something fancy and creative on it. She chose option #3 and told me to paint something really pretty on it. No pressure or anything. Not sure why I'm looking so giddy in this picture. It might have had something to do with the fact that this was the last birthday in our family of our party year and I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe.

The calm before a giant beetle (is it a beetle? One of those giant black flying fuzzy bee-looking things?) flew in too close for comfort and sent all the kids (big brothers included) screaming and running for cover. Ah, good times. Especially since I was all the way across the street away from that scary bug.

Happy, happy birthday dear little Lauren. You are such a gift to us and we are so thankful to the Lord for you. May this year be filled with many blessings for you, sweet one!

Thanks, April! We totally loved Frozen here, too! Which caught me by surprise since I thought I wouldn’t like it at all when I first saw the previews for it. I am thankful for my girly girls who have introduced me to “a whole new world” since I originally thought of myself as a boy mom.
