Personal Thanksgiving January 14, 2015 / So Thanksgiving time at our house went something like this: On Wednesday, I swung by Jonah’s preschool for their little party. Low-key but perfect for the little guys. The teacher led them in a song about five little turkeys and they each took a turn waddling back to their seat. Jonah was very eager to be one of the little turkeys. Apropos. Nailed it. Then it was stuff-your-face-with-turkey-and-ham-sandwiches-and-other-tidbits. He always enjoys this part. He volunteered to make instant mashed potatoes with his teacher. Sprinkle in a pinch of salt… Pour in the potato flakes… Magic mashed potatoes! He was impressed. But didn’t eat a bite of it. He’s not a fan of mashed potatoes, instant or otherwise. He lost his turkey hat at recess before I got there and was very, very sad that he didn’t get to show it to me. So we appealed to his teacher, and she, being very patient and kind, and having an extra turkey hat, plopped this one on his head. He was just a little happy about that. Okay, it probably made his whole Thanksgiving weekend. Thanksgiving dinner was just the six of us at home this year. Quiet, but nice and relaxed. Here’s our annual just whatever because Mommy’s been cooking all day and she stinkin doesn’t care anymore throw it on auto and snap a picture cuz it’s time to eat! picture. But first an outtake… or two… Cheers! (with empty glasses). Full bellies, thankful hearts. Happy Thanksgiving. Hope yours was great, too.
