Personal The Week Off, part 2 February 27, 2015 / On Wednesday morning, we woke up and began the Disneyland portion of the week. Just a teeny bit excited. Something about even Disneyland air is magical. And every so often, it’s just nice to breathe a little magic in. Mickey beignets! This boy couldn’t be bothered with waiting to take a picture first. Had to dive right in. The white paper bag the beignets came in held easily a full cup of powdered sugar at the bottom. And while my first instinct would be to DO NOTHING with it but promptly throw it away, the dad’s first instinct was, well, not that. It would seem that the kids’ preferred the dad’s instincts. But hey, all I do is keep them alive, but whatever, man. Well, we are in the land of “just a spoonful of sugar” after all. Off to find adventure! We caught the first show of the day. Met a few familiar faces. Got some autographs. Rode the merry-go-round. The reason why we chose to go mid-week rather than during the weekend? Very gloriously uncrowded. Longest line for any ride was still under 15 minutes. We can handle that. The girls wanted to see if Mr. Rabbit was home. He wasn’t. But they were so cute for trying. Met a couple fairies. Hooray! Lauren was brave enough to meet Tinkerbell and take a picture with her this year. Unlike the time she bit her sister’s shirt while clinging tightly to her because we made her stand next to Tinkerbell. The boys weren’t too interested in meeting fairies, so they went to meet Captain America and wait for us in the Innoventions building. Where they found four controllers next to each other- two for a Big Hero 6 game and two for a Frozen game. Well played, Disney. More to come…
