Spring Break, part 2

The next day, Phil and I headed out for a little two-night getaway. Phil had a milestone birthday this year and when asked what he wanted to do to celebrate, he said he wanted to keep it simple and just have time to relax. No party, no fuss, no big deal.

Well, I can surely handle that.

So this time, I took over the researching/planning/reserving duties for this getaway and came to appreciate anew all the thought and effort Phil puts into planning all our other vacations and fun times. I am so blessed to be married to him.

Anyhow, the goodbyes were said, the hugs were given, and we set off.

Our first stop- lunch at Thomas Hill Organics.

Lunch was delicious. This foie gras and spiced pear salad was awesome.

This burger made with romesco, cambozola cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, roasted garlic aioli, and caramelized onions- super rich and sooo good but made us thankful for our habit of ordering a few dishes and then sharing everything. We both agreed that eating the whole thing would have been too rich and heavy.

Did a little sightseeing in Old Town Paso and had a laugh over this tiny little red phone booth.

Finally, we made it to our destination- the Seascape Cottage on Moonstone Beach in Cambria.

I had mentioned we were celebrating hubby's birthday when I made the reservation and a surprise little birthday cake was waiting for us when we arrived.
