The next day, Phil and I headed out for a little two-night getaway. Phil had a milestone birthday this year and when asked what he wanted to do to celebrate, he said he wanted to keep it simple and just have time to relax. No party, no fuss, no big deal.
Well, I can surely handle that.
So this time, I took over the researching/planning/reserving duties for this getaway and came to appreciate anew all the thought and effort Phil puts into planning all our other vacations and fun times. I am so blessed to be married to him.
Anyhow, the goodbyes were said, the hugs were given, and we set off.
Where they had a cute little table for two set out front. My favorite kind.
Such a beautiful space.
Throwing up the bunny ears on the Pismo Beach root beer as a shout out to our kids who often like to do this.
Nice face there my hammy husband.
Lunch was delicious. This foie gras and spiced pear salad was awesome.
This burger made with romesco, cambozola cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, roasted garlic aioli, and caramelized onions- super rich and sooo good but made us thankful for our habit of ordering a few dishes and then sharing everything. We both agreed that eating the whole thing would have been too rich and heavy.
Did a little sightseeing in Old Town Paso and had a laugh over this tiny little red phone booth.
That’s Phil still hamming it up behind the binocs.
Chocolate covered strawberries. Ooh la la! 😉
I had mentioned we were celebrating hubby’s birthday when I made the reservation and a surprise little birthday cake was waiting for us when we arrived. Sweet!
