Allie had mentioned that she couldn’t really see the board at school very well and needed to get up closer every time the teacher wrote something up there. She started squinting while watching the TV. She couldn’t read street signs or license plates until they were much closer.
All signs pointed to it being time.
Her annual well child checkup confirmed it. Our girl needed glasses. Both her dad and I got glasses in elementary school so she was merely confiming the apple/tree idiom. Luckily she’s been wanting glasses so she was beyond excited about it.
Glasses and braces at the same time, poor girl. Fortunately, she’s little and cute enough to rock both looks simultaneously. Even better, they only overlapped by about a month before the braces came off. Lots of changes happening for our little big sis.
I wanted to get some pictures of her the day she got her glasses and found her in her usual thinking spot.
She loves journaling, writing stories, illustrating covers, and can often be found here at her desk turning her latest inspiration into reality. The first few pages, at least. One cannot control the timing of when a new inspiration hits, can one?
Love her and her creative mind so much.
Plus the new glasses!
And wherever Allie is, little sis is sure to be found nearby.
Wandering out to the living room, I found this boy sitting at the table. Never a dull moment here with a little face around every corner.
Turns out big brother was making a bowl of cereal for him.
He’s got it good and he knows it.
After having eaten his bowls of cereal and other things he found in the fridge, he asked if he could play that “doubling game” on my phone.
Legs lengthening into the gangly realm, no longer the chubby baby legs of yore. Where is the time going and what is its hurry?
For both of them. No more actual babies left in our house. And I am both happy and sad about that.
Curled up reading comic books. One of his favorite pastimes.
Happily, it seems to be rubbing off on the little brother too.
Laughing together over a book. Does it get any better?
My sons.
This is what life looks like these days in our house and I am loving these little moments.
What they look like today. Looking so big now but will look so little all too soon.
