A Big Day
The long-awaited, much anticipated day for this girl finally came…
So proud of this little girl who turned out to be much tougher and braver about being in braces for a year and a half than any of us thought. She dealt with the discomfort of them, the many canker sores that came, the wires that kept slipping off her too-small teeth, the tightenings, the adjustments, the complicated flossing, the questions from her classmates since she was the first to get them, all of it. Neither Phil or I had braces so we didn’t really know what she was in for or how to prepare her, yet she handled it all like a champ. Even though she was one of their smallest patients. My girl. So impressed with her. She totally deserved her visit to the brace-free zone. I even let them each have FIVE pieces from the candy bag to celebrate. The rest of the bag is still sitting on the kitchen counter, a month later. Largely forgotten by all. Which is fine by me, because no more sitting in the orthodontist’s waiting room certainly doesn’t mean I want to replace it with sitting in dentist’s waiting room while they get cavities filled. :/
