Personal

His Party

We had Jonah’s party exactly 21 days later. Because we (and by “we” I mean Jonah) aren’t totally firm on how the calendar works and because his mom called too late to reserve a party date within his actual birth month. Party year is a blight on my otherwise happy existence.

But it’s all good!

See? We are just as happy to celebrate our birthday the following month. Gotta capitalize on that before he realizes how birthdays actually work.

The boys made a beeline to this cannonball arena and stayed in here a loooong time.

Which was just fine by me since it meant they stayed contained mostly in one space and I could get as many pictures as I wanted.

Little boys in oversized goggles. Best.

The little boys were warring against the big boys.

Finally he emerged, goggle lines still on his cheeks, sweaty, tired, and feeling victorious.

I don’t know exactly what is happening here, but I know that I love it.

Kids hurtling down the giant slide makes my heart skip a beat in not a good way.

I don’t know why my kids all love this.

Especially this guy. My heart skips several beats when he goes down this giant slide after a running start and leaping off the top. Why why why???

Terra firma, I tell ya. It’s where it’s at.

Before we knew it, it was time to head into the glow in the dark room. For more of the heart skipping action. Now in the dark. Even better!

Doing what I can to keep this guy on the ground with me.

Obligatory group pic. Complete with cheese.

Then on to the lunch portion of the festivities!

And cake!

Just in case you forgot whose birthday we are celebrating here.

Waiting for us to be done singing to him so he can blow out his candles.

Another obligatory group pic.

Party favor bags assembled the night before by one Phil Tsai. Why yes, those are foam nunchucks peeking out.

Jonah and his crew.

Partied out. Yeah right!

Happy birthday, my baby! You didn’t take my deal to stay four and turned yourself into a joyful fun-loving five year old. We love you to the moon and back. You bring so much laughter and crazy antics to our family. Can’t imagine life without you and we thank God for you!
