It’s not often that we can coordinate schedules in order to go on vacation with friends, but it sure is a blast when it does happen!
Even in the midst of a sweltering Palm Springs summer heat wave of 115 degree temps. Didn’t even matter if it was day or night, the temperature insisted on staying well above 100 degrees.
Our dear friends Jenny and Sam.
Crazy lovebirds even after all these years.
Moms Margarita Night out!
They always insist on waking early whilst on vacation to pile onto one bed together and watch cartoons. Their favorite part of any vacation.
In an effort to escape the heat, we boarded this contraption.
Sweaty kids and hubby ready to head up the mountain in search of cooler temps.
Um. Those cables look rather thin. And those craggy rocks look rather sharp. And our pod thingy was at full capacity and spun 365 degrees around as we traveled up. Oh no, I wasn’t nervous at all. Heh heh.
But we made it to the mountaintop and hallelujah, it was amazingly so much cooler!! 75 degrees never felt so wonderful.
Lauren requested a picture with the teeny tiny little baby stuffed chipmunk. Thankfully she didn’t ask too many questions about it.
Tsai family ready for adventure on the hiking trail.
Kids on a log…
Never boring with this guy around.
Nope, never.
But every once in a blue moon, I catch him with a normal expression. Mostly because I catch him not noticing that I’m shooting him.
Kids plotting which direction to go next.
My boy.
View of the scorched earth, er I mean the city of Palm Springs, down below us.
The trees were simply enormous. Our tiny hiking party is down in the left of this picture. See ’em?
Daddy daughter trailblazers.
Mikey sure had quite a lot to say the entire time!
And finally, we made it back to the lodge for dinner.
It actually started getting cold once the sun went down, so out came our puffy jackets. And this time, Phil wanted in on the puffy crew.
Puffy pastel babies.
On our walk back to our van, we saw some bats flying around overhead. This is Mikey’s bat reenactment for our entertainment.
And then the next day found us poolside and in the lazy river and sitting under misters cabana-style. All perfectly acceptable ways to enjoy the desert heat with great friends.
