phil had a rare weekend off- no call at the hospital, no traveling, no research papers to write, no studying (well, he always has something he should be studying, but never mind that! heh).  so it was great to spend both days all together! saturday we went to the minnesota children’s museum.  it was soooo crowded, guess everyone else wanted to get out of the house in spite of the super cold weather.  we *think* mikey had a good time, hard to tell though since he was still adjusting to sleeping in his new bed and was already tired by the time we got to the museum.  there was lots to see…

success… sort of so mikey’s transition to his toddler bed has been a success for the most part.  i was just about to start writing a glowing report about how well he’s adjusted to it and obeyed the new rules.  until i hear, “BOING!  BOING!” come from one of his toys that i know isn’t close enough to his bed for him to reach without getting out of bed.  guess he’s not quite ready for his nap yet.  it’s been a success in that mikey’s had no trouble giving up the crib.  in fact, he seems to really love the fact that he gets to sleep in his new ‘vroom…

our pastor has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.  he’s scheduled to have surgery tomorrow morning.  after that, he’ll be taking a 5-month sabbatical in england.  the cancer was found in the early stages, so his prognosis is good (according to phil).  it’s been so encouraging to hear piper’s thoughts on cancer and his desire to glorify God through this experience.  he gave a wonderful ‘farewell sermon’ titled “let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord; reflections on a people and their preacher”.  the text was 1 corinthians 1:10-31.  leave it to piper to have the world’s longest sermon titles and points!    anyway, there was too much in the message to…
