i’ve decided to *try* and commit to reading at least 20 minutes per day in order to read more of the many great books i keep intending to read and never get around to. only thing with that is that i also tend to keep on reading long past the 20 minutes once i get into something good. which then means other duties are left undone. ahhh, my forever struggle to be disciplined! anyway, i recently picked up noel piper’s ‘treasuring God in our traditions’. so so so good!!! there’s even recipes in there! if you haven’t read it, i’d strongly encourage you to pick it up- it’s all about how…

as we sat down to dinner tonight, the first drops of rain began to fall. we continued eating, watching the sky get darker and darker and the raindrops get bigger and bigger. then the lightning flashed and the thunder rumbled. a few minutes more and marble-sized hail was falling! we still continued eating. hey, it’s been four years that we’ve been here. year one, we would have been panicking and wondering where to go for cover. dinner was almost done when we heard loud sirens going off outside. hmm. phil suggested turning on the tv to see if there were any alerts. tv weatherman: if you live in the roseville…
