sometimes, only mommy will do
phil and i were sitting in our living room, each working on a computer. it was nearing midnight and i was beginning to think about getting ready for bed, when all of a sudden, i hear a piercing cry/scream come from lauren’s room. very unusual for her since she normally sleeps soundly (and quietly) all night. the cry comes again, even louder this time. i get up to go check on her and find her up on her knees (she doesn’t quite pull up all the way to stand yet), clinging on to her crib railing. i immediately pick her up and notice her body quivering a little. she seemed…

terranea
every year in june, the anesthesia program at harbor has a special lunch for the graduating residents. and all non-graduating residents are expected to go and be happy for the ones who are moving on. this graduation lunch is usually held at one place every year. but this year, the planning person decided to have it at the brand new terranea resort and spa. it was certainly a beautiful spot and the graduating residents sure lucked out! though the other residents (phil included) were quickly informed that this wouldn’t be repeated next year. turns out, it was nearly four times as expensive as it usually is! so phil says it’ll…

rub-a-dub-dub, two kids in a tub
mikey and allie were cracking me up as they were taking a bath the other night. they requested i take their picture, so i happily obliged. first, they wanted goggles on. then they wanted to pose. and then they wanted to hug. and mikey wanted a shooting pose. and stop. with grapes.

too fast
since mikey and allie just had birthdays and lauren’s is coming up next month, i figured now would be a good time to take the kids’ portraits. they are growing up simply too fast. mikey, age five. i love these eyes. allie, age three. i’m not sure what she was laughing about here, but something sure tickled her funny bone! lauren, age ten and a half months. kicking myself for not taking her pictures BEFORE she learned how to crawl. gone are the days when i could just plop her down and she’d stay put. the girl was on the move and would not be stopped!

mikey’s birthday bash
we held mikey’s birthday party at adventureplex a few days later on a tuesday morning. we chose to go with a mid-week day since most of mikey’s friends are also in preschool and would be able to attend, phil had that day off, and we figured it would be way less crowded on a weekday. turns out it was a great day to have the party since there were only a few other people there and we almost had the place to ourselves. mikey requested to have his party at this “playground with the roof over it”. i’m diving in! i am a happy boy! and i am a happy…
