    Halloween

And then Halloween was upon us. The day is always a mad rush of events and its arrival always signals the march of the coming months packed with a mad rush of events that doesn’t let up until around January 2nd. Which is where I find myself right smack in the middle of right now. Not that I don’t love this time of year, I really do. It’s just all the little things that require doing in a short amount of time, along with special events happening for each of the kids to keep track of and prepare for, and the creating of fun childhood memories for our kids that…

    Back in the Garden

Grandpa came for a visit just before Halloween. We always love when Grandpa comes to visit. The kids love spending time with him. Phil and I do too, but we also love that having Grandpa here means we can slip out after the kids are in bed for little date nights. I think we went out to the movies three nights in a row! Always a fun little bonus when Grandpa is here.

    Typical

I am bound and determined to catch up on posts before the end of this year. I’m gonna do it. Positive thinking. Determined little train. Pumping self up. Though, maybe I’ve gotta up my game from posting twice a week to really make it happen. And… this may not be the best month to tackle extra ambition. Uuuuuuggggghhhhh.   Anyhoo. I’m going to keep plugging along. Even if it means posting the pictures from inside our house even though I struggle with shooting inside our dark house. And even though the clutter drives me nuts. And even though the story might not be particularly poignant but totally mundane instead. Because…

    Pumpkin Picking

Let’s go! We said. Where? They said. You’ll see. We said. They were skeptical.   That is, until we drove into the dusty dirt parking lot and Mikey cried out, “Hey! I remember this place!” Then it was all smiles and cheer. Oh they of little faith.                                                                                                       Now maybe they won’t be as skeptical the next time we spring…

    Our First Thanksgiving

Throwback to our very first Thanksgiving together. We had just moved out to Minnesota after getting married that summer. We didn’t know anybody out there yet. So, I attempted to make a Thanksgiving meal for just the two of us in our teeny tiny 495 sq foot apartment. I had no idea what I was doing so most of it came from a box and/or a can. We didn’t have any dinnerware to speak of, or even really any furniture. Still, we were thankful to God for His goodness to us, for the meal, for bringing us together and for the new start to our life in a new…
