movin’ on up

mikey was ‘promoted’ to nursery 3 this past sunday at church.  he’s in the big time now!   course, he’s still the littlest one in the 18-24 month crew. 

all the nursery rooms are so wonderfully structured and designed to follow the church’s familiar banner statement to “spread a passion for the supremacy of GOD in all things, for the joy of all [babies] through Jesus Christ.”  nursery workers pray over the babies, teach them simple Bible truths, and sing songs.  additionally in nursery 3, the kiddos get snack time (graham crackers and water), blow soap bubbles, have marching time, color, and play with a big parachute thingy.

the room mikey’s now in also has little windows so we could peek in on him.  it was so cute to see all the little toddlers in there!  also very reassuring since mikey ALWAYS cries tragically when we hand him over the counter.  we always knew he settled down soon after and was fine to stay there the whole time.  but now, we got to see that he had actually stopped crying in the few seconds it took to reach the windows to see him!  when we went to go pick him up after service, we saw him wandering around by himself checking out the new room while everyone else was playing on the parachute.  such a little loner! 

he even gets homework now!  the front side is the coloring page that they do in nursery time, and the back side has our home assignment:

show your child the picture of Jesus and the children.  talk about Jesus’ love. 

then play a ‘who loves you?’ game with your child.  help your child list who loves him.  make sure your child understands that Jesus loves him most.  in time you should be able to ask the question, “who loves you most?” 

then pray: thank Jesus for loving you.  tell Jesus that you love Him.

i put mikey’s take home page on our fridge.  he didn’t do much coloring, probably too busy watching everyone else!

and hey! mikey is exactly 18 months old today according to his ticker!
