old blog

not only do i have a bunch of things to get done, but mikey’s got his own list of to-do’s as well!

*feed himself with a spoon

*hold own sippy cup of milk (we still cuddle together on the rocking chair while i hold his milk bottle for him, baby-style.  but we did switch over to a sippy spout a while ago.)

*transition out of crib

my baby’s got a bit of growing up to do before he becomes a big brother!    any tips on how to do any of the above would be greatly appreciated!

i don’t have any wise words of wisdom besides, “just do it!”. i’m serious though….with feeding -mikey just needs the opportunity to practice doing it (even if it’s going to get messy ) and then it’ll happen. sippy cup – same thing. he might not like it since it sounds like it’s special cuddle time when you hold his bottle for him, but he’s old enough to hold his own sippy cup so if he doesn’t do it then it’s just a matter of obeying. transitioning – same advice. some kids do it easily, some kids don’t but you won’t know til you give it a try. we let austin watch and help us take the crib apart and put the new bed together. that way he knew what was going on instead of one day going into his room and finding a new bed in there. we tried to make it all exciting and now do our story time in bed together so the bed’s a fun and safe place for him.

final word – it really will all happen in time so don’t feel rushed and don’t stress yourself out. in fact, b/c i don’t like things messy when austin eats, i still don’t let him fully feed himself (which i should) and remember we just recently transitioned austin out of the crib.

all that to say. the written word sounds much different than the spoken word. i hope i didn’t sound mean or anything. i was trying to fit it all in without using up too much comment space. maybe i should just email you…

i don’t have any insights. i’ve been transitionin megan to doing her milk feedings herself too. she takes the sippy cup by herself for juice and water, but i’ve been holding onto those milk feedings because i love that cuddle time too. 🙂
