i came across this quote by elisabeth prentiss on the girl talk blog (a great site by carolyn mahaney and her daughters):
Here is a sweet, fragrant mouth to kiss; here are two more feet to make music with their pattering about my nursery. Here is a soul to train for God; and the body in which it dwells is worthy all it will cost, since it is the abode of a kingly tenant. I may see less of friends, but I have gained one dearer than them all, to whom, while I minister in God’s name, I will make a willing sacrifice of what little leisure for my own recreation my other darlings had left me. Yes, my precious baby, you are welcome to your mother’s heart, welcome to her time, her strength, her health, her tenderest cares, her life-long prayers! Oh, how rich I am, how truly, how wondrously blest!
oh, that my heart would ring true with her words!
and btw, thanks barbara for this book recommendation! i’m really enjoying it, too.

i was thinking about buying that book. i love that quote. i don’t think i would’ve appreciated it a tenth as much before i became a mother to little kate. but now i feel like i know what she’s talking about. i think i will buy that book. maybe with the $30 giftcard to amazon.com from the diaper deal peter wrote about on unityline. i’m praying for your pregnancy, L&D, and postpartum days….including your prayer requests from that mom’s meeting. take care!

if only all mothers-to-be felt that way.
