happy birthday to my phil!

we couldn’t really go out for phil’s birthday this year what with his current long work hours, a wigglesome toddler, and a newborn who currently thinks she needs to be held *all* the time.  so… i tried to make him a restaurant dinner at home.

prime rib, lobster tail, tomato mozzarella caprese salad, oven roasted rosemary parmesan potatoes, garlic bread, and chocolate cake.  all of phil’s favorites!

the food was a hit and phil was happily surprised.  the company, well, that was a miss.  mikey decided he was done two minutes after we started to eat and KEPT asking for cake the rest of the time, and allie made sure we could hear how unhappy she was to be in her swing and not with us.

everyone perked up when the chocolate cake finally came out.  mikey was happy to help daddy blow out his candles.

the front of daddy’s card from mikey and allie:

the back (OH MY, why is it SO hard to get decent handprints of small children?!  well, my intentions were honorable…):

finally!  allie gets some luv.

happy birthday, honey.  well, we tried!

you are amazing to do all that for your honey, i bet that food tastes better than any restaurant! a lot more gourmet than mrs stubblefield ever showed us in home-ec. the handprint thing is hard, especially with newborns, i don’t know how the OB nurses do it so efficently. paul and i had to wait until ian was asleep to do the handprint thingy. yours turned out good.
    Happy Birthday Phil!!!

love your pics! — about the chocolates, my parents actually bought two separate boxes. I offered to take both boxes to work where the people eat anything and everything… but Johnny would only let me take the one unopened box.  surprise-surprise?!   oh well.  =)
