road trip!

so we packed up the car and hit the open road up to lake superior (2.5 hour drive) for an overnight adventure.  sleeping anywhere that’s not home is always an adventure with our little ankle biters.    we stayed in the city of duluth (‘duh-looth’)  which borders lake superior.

we stayed at the south pier inn for the night.  took advantage of their great weekday rates and scored a two-room suite for cheap!  here’s mikey checking out the in-room whirlpool tub.

mikey got the separate bedroom with a queen-size bed all to himself for the night.  daddy made it all cozy for him.

we had a great view of the aerial lift bridge that would go up whenever a large ship needed to pass under it.  huge ships would pass by right outside our window!  thankfully, they were double-paned, so it was still pretty quiet in our room.

the next day, we visited the great lakes aquarium.  mikey’s favorite part was playing with these toy boats in this replica of the great lakes.

sigh…  can it be that phil’s six-week vacation is already almost over?!  time sure flies when daddy’s around!  we all just love that guy.
